Situated on Westmarsh Point on the River Colne at the entrance to Brightlingsea Creek. Bateman's Tower is a folly built in 1883 by John Bateman. The Colne Yacht Club, Colne Smack Preservation Society and other sailing organisations use the tower.

The Beth Chatto Gardens began in 1960. From an overgrown wasteland with poor gravel soil and boggy hollows it has been transformed into an informal garden harmonising with the surrounding countryside.

The East Essex Aviation Society and Museum has been housed in the historic Martello Tower at Point Clear since it opened in the summer of 1986. The Tower is one of the first built in 1805 to repel a Napoleonic invasion expected from France.

Frinton is a seaside course that provides a fine test of golf. At 6,265 yards, Frinton is not excessively long by modern standards and, at first glance, the open fairways with their lack of trees may seem unchallenging, but this is certainly not the whole story!

The club is a parkland course which is 103 years old. It has some very challenging holes and a test to anybody is the par three 9th which you can barely see the top of the flag and at 243 yards it tests even the best of golfers.

A picturesque, medium-sized, timber-framed, tide-driven watermill, dated 1831, in our ownership. This has a breast-shot waterwheel and three pairs of millstones. It is one of only a handful of tide mills still in working order in this country and still grinds occasionaly.
